Starting F4J

Post by gabeldan » Tue Dec 10, 2019 4:22 pm

I am having trouble getting the engines started on the F4JTP version.

I use the same procedures as the E but its not working, the engines wind up and when I move throttle to idle nothing. If I minimize window, reopen the engines are on fire.

Thanks,

The J and S require the GPU startcart. They don't have the pyro cartridge.

Engine masters on? Fuel in the tanks? What RPM are you moving throttles forward at?

Masters on, 78% fuel, gpu cart attached, signaled for air flow start, right engine start first (lower compression) advance throttle from off to idle at 15%.

On the E this works perfectly, on the J the engine does not start, it just keeps winding up then start over.

Thanks

Ok, just figured something out. When I start the flight the acm shows 60% fuel, the gauge in cock pit shows 0 pounds. If I add external tanks with acm fuel quantity shows 100% but cockpit gauge shows 0.

If I change aircraft (FSX) the it will show fuel but then change to 0% (with E version as well)

Disregard all the above, I just realized the fuel gauge will not display fuel until engine(s) running and generators on.

Back to square one. I do notice with the E when I advance throttle during start up I hear a clicking which I assume is the igniter? With the J & S I d not hear that.

Correct. The sound is also present in the J/S but in this case, a GPU source must be active (no battery in J/S).
The GPU sound is masking the igniter sound.

Then the issue remains is I cannot get the engines started.
