Hi N4GIX,

Thank you for the quick reply.
The error about the missing MilVizT50_navwhi.fx file has nothing to do with the KA 350i project. It is an .fx file included with the Cessna T50 Bobcat.
This a bit strange as I do not now, nor have I ever owned this aircraft (!?), anyway thank you for the file, I will install as directed and re-check.
..\Modules is an incorrect folder for the WX gauge file. It should be in the aircraft's ..\panel folder or the sim's ..\Gauges folder only.
As you can see from this thread, if I place this file in the KA350i Panel folder I get persistent CTD's, I tried it in the ..\Modules folder as per an earlier post within this thread, I will try it again in the ..\Gauges folder and report back.

Once again, many thanks for your help, Happy New Year to you and all.

Hi N4GIX,

Well, in this config it is now selectable without CTD at least, but it does not work (on my system anyway).

I flew it through/around a P3Dv4.5 induced thunderstorm and did not see even a 'blip' on the screen (?).

Is there anything else that I can do to get this working, is it actually implemented yet?

The Terrain RDR seems to work, I have not checked it for accuracy as yet.

Is there any sense in stripping it out P3D and trying to reinstall the whole a/c?

Appreciate your help,

Steve F.

You will also find a Windows error log here:
Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application

Scroll down to the Error (Red dot and then copy the text in the grey box below into your post.
Check it immediately after the ctd and the error should be at the top.

Hi JB,

I did check the Windows error log and posted it below;
1st Red dot (?) says;

svchost (13620,R,98) TILEREPOSITORYS-1-5-18: Error -1023 (0xfffffc01) occurred while opening logfile C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer\Database\EDB.log.

2nd Red dot says;

Faulting application name: Prepar3D.exe, version: 4.5.13.32097, time stamp: 0x5d8abf93
Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.18362.535, time stamp: 0x50cc8d5a

Report ID: fccbc845-572b-4b2c-9644-d843b28414fb
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:
I will run it again and repost, but please understand that placing the MV_WXM.dll file into ..\Gauges folder seems to have cured the CTD, but the Wx RDR just does not appear to work.

My guess is that we will no longer see the CTD error.

Is there an update or hotfix that I need to apply (?), I had only purchased this and the PC-6 on Xmas day and thought that I had the latest versoins (?), but I see from the webpage today that this add-on is probably still in a bit of a 'fluid state' at present?

Be back soon, cheers,

Steve F.

Hi again JB,

There may be a small bit of confusion here, N4GIX seems to have cured the CTD's by having me place the MV_WXM.dll file into the ../Gauges folder, this seems to stop the CTD's when I select Wx RDR in the VC, but the Wx RDR does not appear to work at all, TERR RDR does work to some extent.

Will anyone kindly answer the following questions please;
  • Does MV_WXM.dll live in more than one place (it is currently removed from the KA350i\Panel folder and has been moved to the ..\Gauges folder)?
  • Should I apply the 'HotFix' (or the update/service pack (when rel'd))?
  • Should I strip-out and re-install this aircraft?
I have just completed a test flight from KSEA to CYVR with Wx (AS+ASCA), as I posted previously, there were no CTD's (MV_WXM.dll now lives in ../Gauges as instructed), as there were no CTD's I can only report what I see in the Windows Error Event Log;

I'll need to correct N4GIX on this point. This specific WXM.dll is different from our other aircraft that use a different standalone weather radar display. As such, it only works if it is in the panel folder, since it is not loaded by the simulator through the panel.cfg, but by internal routines in the PL-21 system itself. Your error is a very unique one that I have never encountered in my career. I am doing some more research on it.

Just to confirm, if you have it in the panel folder, the aircraft loads fine, but only CTDs on WX radar selection for display?

Hi JB,

Oohh, ok, thank you for the info.

Before you start digging too far into this, is it worth me re-installing and applying the 'HotFix' (Iam not sure what the 'HotFix' is actually for)?

Yes that is correct, and I can also select the TERR RDR without CTD, it is just the selection of Wx that CTD's.

Cheers,

Steve F.

The hotfix fixed a number of other potential CTDs and some other bugs. I also don't know which as my involvement on the KA is limited. I would recommend you get it.

The ESENT error is Windows related... Here's how to fix it

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... d6412895a0

Go to Windows\system32\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\

Create the folder TileDataLayer then inside that folder create Database folder.

Hi JB,

Ok, I checked the HotFix and find it was a new installer, so that answered my question regarding 'do I uninstall?'

So, I removed the original and stripped it completely from P3Dv4.5~, shutdown, run a CCleaner tidy up and registry clean, rebooted and ran the new installer, all files are now excatly where the installer puts them, oh BTW, I also removed MV_WXM.dll from the ..\Guages folder before I statred all of this.

I then restarted and setup for the test flight again KSEA ISBRG1/34R PAE GRIZZ6/26L CYVR.

During the flight I tried to play around with many of the settings for the Wx RDR, this is what I got at various setting (gain?), I cannot see what the 'T+20A' part means or where to change that (?);

So, it is 'kind of' working now, just not sure if this is what you would expect, of course I cannot account for the Wx coming out of AS+ASCA as I do appear to be able to set any manual WX with it (!?).

Hope this may help, again many thanks,

Steve F.

Depending on the tilt, you will get terrain returns

Hi JB,
Yeh, understood, but I cannot see where to control the tilt as theres no manual for the PL21.
What does the "T+2.0A" bit mean, I am guessing this is possibly tilt and gain, maybe the 'A' means above, I cannot see how or even if that is a real thing or where it can be changed?
Anyway, some more shots during the flight, not sure if any of this is any use to you, I would also agree that some of this is terrain returns, but some look like possible cloud pings, Wx was internal P3Dv4.5 set for gathering storms.
One thing that I did notice during this test, is that the Wx RDR display appears to 'draw' in one direction and erase in the opposite direction, although even this is sporadic at best.

Bottom large knob is cleverly disguised as TILT.
The small knob is similarly disguised as RANGE. ;)

Hi N4GIX,

I knew it would be right in front of my face somewhere (Doh!), thanks. :D

I have now actually seen some weather on the display now, but in a very sporadic manner....

....although I guess you will tell me "that's weather for ya!" :lol:

Some pretty heavy rainfall...
