F-100A 52-5778 in the colors it wore when it was flying with the NACA. The NACA received an early F-100A (52-5778) which it used to perform stability and control tests. NACA test pilot Scott Crossfield flew the F-100A during the late fall of 1954 to determine the flight boundaries where inertial coupling could occur. This did not go completely as planned, more on his first flight with this F-100 here: http://www.thisdayinaviation.com/tag/52-5778/. The repaint depicts the aircraft as it looked after it was repaired.

Nice job on this one, led to the story of his taxi mishap and to his book, Thanks! Look up my website and I will email you my F-100 pen & ink artwork for FREE. www.georgedubick.com I flew F-100F "948" for 3 years with the "Wild Weasel Air Museum" in Dallas, TX. I see that 948's paint is on the website in D-model configuration. I'm a newbi here and would love to see 948 available in the "Family" configuration. I'd love to fly formation with other Hun drivers with myself in the F in 948 paint. gdubick@live.com Also Thunderbird formations if there is any interest in that. The FREE art work is available to all members of MilViz also.
