FSX controls problem after removing spring from joystick

Post by Jean Luc Picard » Tue Oct 31, 2017 4:42 am

So I removed the spring from my joystick so that I can use it with helicopters and HTR. I discovered the hard way that FSX will have a control position sensing problem if the joystick is left for a little while with the joystick stationary at the limits of it's travel. The controls sort of lock up and it can't sense the position of the x or y axis for half it's travel. I have discovered that the way to reset it and fix the issue is to first open the settings\controls menu and deselect the aileron and elevator axes, then unplug the joystick. Then, I set the rudder pedals' toe brake axes so they control the ailerons and elevators. After moving the ailerons and elevators through their full range I plug my joystick back in and it then works right.
Is there a lua script or anything that can reset the controls? I noticed that what resets the controls is the x and y axis being moved through their full range of motion with the stick unplugged.
