Milviz control panel says update [Beaver & Otter]

Post by Chuck-P » Mon Jan 01, 2018 8:17 am

So, I updated both Beaver and Otter using the control panel and the Otter did not show up. I checked the box to uninstall as directed. This also deleted all of my add on liveries. I deleted and installed both again from the links and get the update message again in the control panel. Lost both this time. Not sure what is going on. Runnning the old I guess until I figure this out.

I have just run the update cycle on both aircraft and cannot duplicate that error , the only possible way to have that exact issue would be running an installer that was an older version than the Auto updated one open on the desktop after accepting the download.

I do not recommend uninstalling the previous version in this instance , just allow the one the MVAMS downloaded to run, I assume you have full admin rights to the computer , if shared you might not have permissions to write to the Appdata folder and this is where the new installer is found , only download and run one at a time , once the first is installed you can do the second .

Let us know how that works out for you .

The milviz control panel on my desk top. I click on the beaver and a pop up says an update is available. I clicked on it and downloaded, followed the prompts. Will try again. I have V4.2 now and my previous versions now have maladies such as oil pressure light on and rpm gauge that doesn't work. prop rpm is not working either with v4.2

I should add that my control panel is from November so not that old as with the versions of both the beaver and following otter in December or whenever it was released.

OK, so I once again opened the MILVIZ control panel and selected the beaver. pop up came up that an update was available. I clicked on this. it downloaded the new version. a pop up came up that asked what sim and if I wanted to delete the beaver. This time I selected V4 which was the only option and did not select delete as last time. It ran the installer. At the end it gave me the manual and build list as version 171229. Not sure if this is the latest but wht it gave me. I exited out and opened my manager again. Clicked on the beaver and got the update available pop up again? This is driving me nuts.

Its not supposed to do that , I will see what is causing it in the morning , version number is out of phase on your machine for some reason.

ok, so after restarting the machine the milviz control panel is not telling me there is an upgrade available so that is good. My prop rpm works now but...but... now I have no gauge lights, cabin light only makes the radios highlighted and no map light. I have V4.2 if that helps. All was fine before v4.2 I have not checked the otter yet but I suspect it will be the same. Update also deleted all of my repaints. This is frustrating.

Updates, unfortunately, usually delete repaints so backing up beforehand is a good idea.

It’s likley that you forgot to disable your anti virus before doing the update and that’s why your nightlighting is t working. Also, do make sure that you’ve right clicked on the sim icon and chosen run as admin.

In v4.2, the lighting is a different issue. Are multiple video cards in use?

You must look under "NEWS". There´s a entry:" Update to P3D V4.2" .

Unrelated to the issue here. That post is mainly referring to our F-4 Phantom products without the ADV packages.

I always run milviz as admin and have all my other stuff set to run as admin. When I ran the control panel to do the updates I right clicked and ran as admin. No, I just have one video card. i7-7700k 4.20ghz 8mb- 16gb memory DDR4 600 watts MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB GDDR5

I run V4.2 on my 2TB F drive and my C drive has about 200GB free for operating. I saw no antivirus pop ups during the install of the update or anything odd. Most things just click and update except these. Last update I had some issues with a DLL file and was a mess to fix, was fine before and messed up after. UGH...

Re: Milviz control panel says update [Beaver & Otter]

Post by Chuck-P » Thu Feb 22, 2018 10:44 am

So, I clicked modify and repaired both 2013 and 2015 redistributal files, both 2010 would not highlight the option to modify and then repair. Beaver gauge lights are fixed. For whatever reason whenever I update a Milviz aircraft it messes up these files. This happened with the last update too. So anyway, appears this was my bug. Thanks for the help. I asked someone awhile ago if there were plans for a turbo beaver and otter and was told possibly. This being considered? Would be outstanding to have these versions of these iconic planes too. Both are great and my favorites to fly. Thankful someone stepped up to make these.
