A very long question about the handling of seaplanes.
Hello.
I am a new buyer of the DHC-2 and its expansion and I am generally satisfied.
I use it exclusively on flights in NA with scenery from Return to Misty Moorings, so much on the water, and in narrow areas.
Currently, there are many seaplane variations, and I would like to compare the amphibious versions (with and without FDE), float and float STOL in normal use condition for me (low flying, bad weather, landing every 10 miles in front of lost cabins) but there are big differences in low speed behavior and some versions do not allow me to take off at all (180° on a small lake, ok with the FDE, but not with the others) following the same flight plan.
I found the manipulation proposed by Danno on May 31, 2017 :
which method would have the least impact on the flight experience?
I do not have the technical skills (nor the patience I think) to understand how each .air or .cfg data works (But I know how to hack those files).
I would just like more water rudder to turn in small lakes.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.

I found the manipulation proposed by Danno on May 31, 2017 :
I also found the more complex solution proposed by Danglo on November 08, 2017 :point.0 = 4, 0.00, 4.80, -8.60, 2200, 0, 0.5, 0.0, 0.6, 2.5, 0.60, 0.0, 0.0, 3, 0, 0
point.1 = 4, 0.00, -4.80, -8.60, 2200, 0, 0.5, 0.0, 0.6, 2.5, 0.60, 0.0, 0.0, 2, 0, 0
Replace with this ...
point.0 = 4, 0.00, 4.80, -8.60, 2200, 0, 0.5, 30, 0.6, 2.5, 0.60, 0.0, 0.0, 3, 0, 0
point.1 = 4, 0.00, -4.80, -8.60, 2200, 0, 0.5, 30, 0.6, 2.5, 0.60, 0.0, 0.0, 2, 0, 0
So I come to my question. If I want to be able to compare the different versions without change the flight model, but that I still need to increase the efficiency of water Rudders (and only that, I just need to turn the plane without the slew mode), what do you advise me to do?1) a change in the rate of change of the rate of return.
For that I change two values in the record 0511 of the file "air" (by using the software free 'AirUpdate'):
Record: 0511 Propeller Efficiency
columns: 13 rows: 7
0.000000 0.000000 0.200000 0.400000
15.000000 0.500000 0.550000 0.710000
20.000000 0.100000 0.300000 0.620000
25.000000 0.080000 0.230000 0.490000
30.000000 0.070000 0.180000 0.330000
35.000000 0.060000 0.160000 0.260000
40.000000 0.050000 0.120000 0.230000
-------------------------------------------------- -------------------------
2) lightly push the floats into the water, as the Beaver reel is so.
3) give more efficiency to water rudders. In reality, sea rudders are efficient even when they are up, but a little less.
For these points 2) and 3), I change some values in the file 'aircraft.cfg' like this:
[Contact_points]
point.0 = 4, 0.00, 4.80, -8.00, 2200, 0, 0, 0.0, 0.0, 2.5, 0.390, 0.0, 0.0, 3, 0, 0
point.1 = 4, 0.00, -4.80, -8.00, 2200, 0, 0, 0.0, 0.5, 2.5, 0.891, 0.0, 0.0, 2, 0, 0
point.2 = 4, -18.10, 4.80, -7.20, 2200, 0, 0, 70.0, 0.5, 2.5, 0.891, 0.0, 0.0, 3, 0, 0
point.3 = 4, -18.10, -4.80, -7.20, 2200, 0, 0, 70.0, 0.5, 2.5, 0.891, 0.0, 0.0, 2, 0, 0
point.4 = 5, -20.10, -4.80, -7.20, 1600, 0, 0, 70, 0, 0, 1.000, 1.0, 1.2, 0, 0, 0
point.5 = 5, -20.10, 4.80, -7.20, 1600, 0, 0, 70, 0, 0, 1.000, 1.0, 1.2, 0, 0, 0
which method would have the least impact on the flight experience?
I do not have the technical skills (nor the patience I think) to understand how each .air or .cfg data works (But I know how to hack those files).
I would just like more water rudder to turn in small lakes.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
