C310 VIrtual Cockpit Glass Transparency

Hello All:

I am flying the C310 Redux exclusively in VR these days. In VR the cockpit glass seems to be a bit too tinted / cloudy for my taste.

I know there are some talented repainters here on this board.

I wonder if anyone knows how I might edit the VC textures to make the VC cockpit glass more transparent?

I am vaguely familiar with DXTBmp, but have not used it since my FSX days (now on P3d 4.4).

IIRC, transparency is controlled via the Alpha channel, and lighter equals more transparent. Is that correct?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Respectfully,
Chris

Load up the C310_Glass.dds texture and make the Alpha Channel darker (more black). Pure black is full transparency, so a darker shade of gray is needed.

That worked perfectly.

Thank you!

I hope bumping this thread is not bad etiquette, but I have not experienced the same result as Chris did from Bill's input. I did as suggested - darken the alpha channel in C310_Glass.dds via DXTBmp, but the result made the exterior glass more transparent, not the interior. It was the interior glass transparency Chris was looking for, I assume :?:

I found Bill's C310_NoTint_Glass.zip and tried that as well, with the same result (I believe the issue in that post was the exterior glass)

Don't know if my 310R version matters in this case, but I'm flying v3.180904

EDIT: Apparently the file I needed to modify was C310R_InstrumentGlass.dds.

Moving on . . .
