Edwards was also the base for the SR-71 operations when the aircraft was reactivated in the mid-1990's.

On a semi-related note, going to be seeing Richard Graham, Col, USAF (Ret.), who will be speaking at the Frontiers of Flight Museum this coming Saturday about his experiences with the Habu and his newest book (which I will definitely be getting signed). I met him when the SR-71 sim was unveiled at the museum, so it will be great to see him again.

Any new news that you can share on this project? The SR-71 is my all time favorite aircraft so I'm really stoked to get my hands on the MilViz version, as it will undoubtedly be superlative!! :D

This is going to be awesome! I'd love to see some pictures showcasing the progress to date.

I bet I'll be able to fly from CYXC to CYVR in under twenty minutes during a tactical climb,Lol! By the time I hit forty thousand feet I'll have to start the descent for approach, and still probably overshoot while scrubbing speed .

The Blackbird isn't that easy to fly! You'll have to fly it rather like 737, than like a F15!
You'll have to keep an eye on your CG and you manage your CG with the fuel pumps!

Furthermore the Blackbird is very hard to land! You have to control your CG, AOA, sinkrate and your KIAS besides of a very unclearly view out of the VC!

But I can't wait to fly that beast from Milviz!

I wonder which will last longer at 2200mph. The fuel, or the VAS... ;)

Yes!

I can give you some news. This project has seen some delays, a bit due to illness but much due to P3Dv4 conversions of existing 32-bit products taking time and attention away from new things. There are only so many people and so many hours in a day.

Right now those distractions are behind me, and I am the lead systems coder on the SR-71 project. Progress is substantial and picking up pace. The Blackbird is a complex and unique beast - almost nothing "comes over" from existing code. But the pieces are falling into place.

Someday soon - I can't promise a date - I hope to get a video out of complete, authentic startup and takeoff.

What you're getting with the Milviz SR-71 is a through, exacting simulation of all the aircraft's many systems, standard and unique. And much, much more; which will be put in place in due course. First, we have to get her flying with the basics.

Every day, more lights and switches in the pit work like they should.

Hang in there. It's coming.

NOT an April Fool's joke :)
