Slewing Acquisition symbol

Yet another one I can't sort out! Can you give me some pointers on how to organize things so that I can slew that symbol as done in the A/A video? Doesn't seem to be in the manual.

Thanks,
Eric

Would It be possible to put out a list of Commands that the Milviz F-15E uses in FSX. Seems that would solve a lot of problems. Some are not listed. Your shift + C opens/close canopy, shift + F gets the fuel truck if parked in a parking area. It gets slightly confusing. You seem to be using commands for other aircraft such as the concorde and a g1000. It would be much less confusing if you used the FSX key commands. I have canopy up/dwn duplicated with your cursor range decrease. Both work but when cockpit closed the cursor moves slower. There are several others duplicated and both function in dual mode but this is not very good to duplicate key commands. Could you please take a look at this. I am sure most fans would appreciate a dedicated list that you use to control the functions of the F-15E as some are different than the FSX command keys. Hope you consider this request although we know you are busy on projects for us as well. This is just a suggestion by the way. :)

If you check the stickied posts in this board you will find a list of key commands. As for Shift E/F, if you are in the virtual cockpit Shift E will NOT open the canopy. It is blocked from triggering that key event via simconnect. Same for any of the key commands for the operation of the weapon system.

I have the key commands and over a period of time got some that weren't mentioned. As far as I know I can activate the canopy from the cockpit but I am old so I will check.LOL.

P.S. yes you are correct. Would you mind if I posted a set of key commands and how to get the existing flood light to work and what has to be done to get FLIR working, Last two are simple but I thought I would add at bottom of key commands for F-15E, with your permission of course. cheers.

Re-watched the A/A video and got the answer in the first 30 seconds. Maybe if you could make things more obvious.

Thanks,
Eric

List of key commands have always been right at the top of this forum.

http://www.milviz.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=1474

As for the FLIR and floodlight, you certainly may post your "how tos" ;) . I dont use the FLIR much....Prefer pre-planned targets entered via the UFC. But go right ahead :) .

@Eric I think things were quite obvious in the video.....but the video isnt intended so much to give you the keys as it is to help you understand the workings of the radar and weapon system. Colin and I have had to deal with some users who expected a "god's eye view" 360 deg radar and the ability to just click on the targets to lock them and be able to lock up any number of targets. Since the video is merely to help you understand the modes and functions of the radar and weapon systems it does require some paying attention to rather than skimming over. But to assist those who may miss it in the video the list of key commands is right at the top of this forum among the stickies and i have posted the link here as well so you can see everything. In that link you will not only find keyboard keys, but also the key events that are used in the sim so you can tie things to your controller if you wish.

No problem:
I know you have the key commands but what I found difficult to understand was the way you have the key command explained that through me off.

I.E.Radar Cursor range dec: Shift + C KEY_CONCORDE_NOSE_VISOR_FULL_RET
this really means cursor range dec: shift + C
what is the rest of the command mean Key_concorde_nose_visor_full_ret.
the FSX key command for Shift + C is Nitrous Oxide(on/off)
You see what I mean.

But hay, this is yours, just trying to help.

Let me put it this way. There is a difference between a keyboard command and a key event. A keyboard command is merely a key or combo of keys on your keyboard that the sim or the gauge/module can detect and use to trigger an action. A key event on the other hand is a trigger inside the sim. Your description of Shift + C triggering nitro...is merely part of the FSX Direct Input module detecting the key combo Shift + C and using it to trigger the event KEY_TOGGLE_NITROUS_TANK_VALVE. The key events can easily be tracked down so you can assign them in the FSX control setup to your joystick. Or you can use FSUIPC to trigger them. But in our system, we read key combos directly from the keyboard and we block that key from being sent to the sim. So it doesnt get to trigger the key event that would toggle nitro or open your canopy. Since you cant link your joystick to your keyboard unless the joystick software provides for it, or unless you have a registered copy of FSUIPC which allows you to map keyboard commands to your joystick, I provided triggers that use FSX key events that were chosen carefully so they would not affect the systems of the jet. So while Shift + C is the keyboard command used to decrease cursor range, if you want to map the decrease cursor range to your joystick you will look for the command Concorde Nose Visor Fully retract or something like that in your FSX control setup. But the keyboard commands are hard coded into the jet and have no effect on FSX key events.

Jonathan:

That was great of you to take the time to explain that and sorry if I toke you away from something more important. Very good explanation and one that explains not just this but probably other sims. FSUIPC I don't use but I do have software to map my joystick(x52) and rudder pedals. This was very thoughtful of you to take this time and I appreciate it very much. Nice when you can rely on someone to do such a thing. Not used to customer service like this. Awesome. Thanks again.cheers.

Pete

No worries mate just living up to Milviz reputation ;) . I try to explain things for everyone to understand because many will no doubt read this and if they understand how the sim works I wont have to explain another 500 times  . No seriously we are very dedicated to support. As for what I was doing....well im diving between the forums and VS C++ anyway....tweaking something on the trim for the F-86. So small deviations to answer questions dont cost me much time...

JB,
As always thanks for your time and patience. I hope that you realize that I was just kidding with the "obvious" comment. It could not have been more obvious. It is just me and the word for me is "oblivious"! :D

Best,
Eric

Well we always realize that you guys are always up to something.LOL. It doesn't hurt to show our appreciation for what you do. cheers and good luck with the 86, nice aircraft by they way.HMMMM

Interesting...any chance of getting my hands on a COMPLETE list of those "keyboard commands"--that are hard-coded into the jet?
