6. Rotate the throttle ALL THE WAY to the right, until the white tick mark is over "95" and the MAX is at the top.

Now we will be monitoring the MGT gauge, and the NR/NP RPM/N1 gauge in the center as we watch the start proceed.

7. Press and HOLD the start switch. Keep holding it forward.

a. The engine startup sound should be clearly heard.
b. After about three seconds the MGT gauge should show an initial reading.
c. Blades should be turning slowly now. NR/NP gauge still reads zero.
d. After about 10 seconds more of HOLDING the start switch the MGT gauge should show two jumps upward.
e. After about two seconds more then MGT should jump a third time, slightly, and the NR/NP gauge should rise then stop briefly.
(You can now release the start switch)
f. Now as the rotors spool up the NR/NP gauge should steadily rise into the green area.

Once the rotors are in the green all caution lights should be extinguished.

Where does it go wrong from this sequence?

Thanks
Dutch
Hi Dutch, please see my unlisted video below. I think #6 is where it fails, I was NOT able to get above the 95 mark ... checked my calibration (using P3D's calibration system and NOT using FSUIPC) and all was good. Tried to move above 95 mark with my mouse action and it would never reach the 95 mark.

FYI, my first attempt to start I got NOTHING (after going thru the procedure) when I hit the starter switch, no engine sounds, nothing. So I put all the switches back and this time I did a Gen "Reset" AND moved the starter switch to "disengage" (white lights on warning panel). I went thru the same start procedure again (2nd time I got no "alarm" sounds) and this time when I hit the Start switch (and hold) i heard the engine attempt to start but NO gauge readings at all (see video).

In MVAMs the state was set to "Cold an Dark" for all variants of the 407.

Hi Rob,

I just gave your video a watch and it looks exactly like what was happening to me with my first install of the 407.

I have since got it working. So, what I would suggest is to uninstall (just in case, uninstall Hi-Res and then Low Res) Then make sure all your antivirus is turned off. Once that is done, go and download the installer from the email that would have come through from MILVIZ (highlighting the latest installer). Still with antivirus off make sure you run the installer as admin and follow the installation process and then once in sim follow the startup procedure that Dutch and Chuck listed.

I could have sworn that I did this the first time around but on my latest attempt, my experience was that the fresh download and install solved the issue and worked (although missing a few liveries)...

Tried uninstall and re-install with Win10 defender disabled, unfortunately the same issue.

I even disabled all my controller axis and used keyboard and mouse only, results were the same.

Oh well, my work around is to just start the 407 300 ft AGL.

Cheers, Rob.

Rob, is there any chance you use Active Sky for your weather? I have still been having issues with the 407 so decided to leave ASP4 off and selected a default weather theme in P3D. The startup went just fine but I still have to test it a few more times...

I do use AS4, but in this case I was aware of the issues with "Wind" and cold starts so I had AS4 disabled prior to all my testing.

On a side note: I'm also having problems getting the Alabeo R66 to start. However the "default" R22 provided with P3D (I believe this is also Alabeo's product) starts just fine. Very puzzled indeed.

I'll continue my diagnostics ... I'll disable EVERYTHING in my DLL.XML And EXE.XML and/or add-ons and see where that leads me.

Cheers, Rob.

Followup on the starting issue, I was able to solve the problem by creating a default flight (for A35) with aircraft engines on/running. Save default flight. Exit P3D V4. Start P3D V4, load new flight with B407 selected, engines will be running (ignores any setting in MVAM), shutdown engines and wait, use brake to stop (FYI, stop animation can sometimes show blurred blade as if it's stopping the blade animation at the wrong point).

Go thru startup procedure and it works.

FYI, this has been a common problem with other aircraft vendors - more recently the Aerosoft DC-8 where engines would not start. You might want tocheck with that developer to see what specifically the issue is and why a "engines running" default aircraft state is required.

This probably ties into why MVAM "Cold and Dark" has no impact at all in P3D V4 MV aircraft.

Cheers, Rob.

We know this. It’s why we suggest that you have a default AC that has engines running load first THEN load ours...

Thanks for the update Rob, really appreciate it. Not quite the ideal scenario though is it.

It is a shame, it worked so well, all the time, every time in FSX (and maybe the earlier versions of P3D) but it seems that it just isn't quite suited to P3D v4.

Colin, would it be worth updating the product description on the website re the C&D or ready to fly states?

Is the MD530 better behaved or will it be similar?

Andrew

In fact ,I don't think any dev has been able to properly fix this. It seems to be something to do with setting mixture. We ARE able to do it but we'd have to hook... AND that means a ton of other issues.

I've added my 2 cents to LM dev forum.

The dev for the Aerosoft Douglas DC-8 just released an update within two days that now works in any "Default flight" scenario which seems to work in 4.x.

Cheers, Rob.

This issue only occurs with the 407, all the others works very fine! Any sugestions about it?

@190723
I can't even find one file that has changed from the previous version! (except Bell-407_license.txt)
