P3D Crashes when Loading F-4 E Model [radioF] ~resolved
Hi,
My system:
Windows 10
P3D version 3.4.18.19475
Error Report – App Log file – MSVCR90.dll faulting module
Hardware – GoFlight, TrackIR, Cougar HOTAS
Software – Orbx, PMDG, A lot of other scenery
Installed – Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package as per your instructions.
I purchased very recently the F-4 E , F-4 J/S and TacPac for the E-model
The F-4 E appeared to install successfully. However, next I attempted to install the F-4 J model it failed early during the install process (see the attached image):
Can’t write: C:\Users\Bingo\AppData\Local\MVAMS\MVAMS.exe
I aborted the install, hoping to roll-back what had been installed. I tried one more time to install and got the same results….I aborted the install again and gave up on the “J” model.
Note – I did not install TacPac
I wanted to see if how the “E” model flies, and when I launched it, P3D crashed. It crashes every time I load the F-4 E. The error message in the App log file said something to effect the “faulting module was MSVCR90.dll.”
Your thoughts please?

Two things... you must MUST install (and download) with your AV off. You must also run the sim as an admin.
And finally, if you're running the latest P3D, the F-4 will CTD as it's not yet updated for that.
Soon.

Re: P3D Crashes when Loading F-4 E Model
Ok,
I'm not running the latest version of P3D v3 as I may be behind one or two hot fixes. I didn't download and install the P3D hotfix that fixed the SLI issue people were complaining about. There may have been one other hotfix after this one.
I posted the P3D version I am currently running in my initial post. If this version is not yet supported, please let me know and I will wait for a fix before attempting a download and install with AV turned off??
BTW - I did download using a download manager (IDS) and unzipped using Winzip.

Re: P3D Crashes when Loading F-4 E Model
Regarding the MVAMS issue, double check that you don't have an MVAMS.exe instance in your processes list in the Task manager. If there is one, end it, and then try to install the J. v3.4.18 may be running into the same issue that v3.4.22 is running into. In any case, we will be pushing out an update shortly which will require you to upgrade to v3.4.22 and then it will work.

I got the J, model installed finally, but of course it crashed P3D after starting.
When do you expect an update?

Hi,
Received the latest F-4E update this morning.
I installed it into P3D 3.4 and it crashed upon loading.

JB,
I updated the P3D Client to Version 3.4.18.19868.
The Sim1,dll version number is V3.4.22.19868.
Unfortunately, it still crashes when it is about to start the loading process.

Re: P3D Crashes when Loading F-4 E Model
There is a disconnect here. You can't be running P3D client v3.4.18 while your sim1.dll is v3.4.22. You need to clear out your P3D client, and download and install the v3.4.22 client instead as that is the only one the F-4 will work with. I wouldn't be surprised if the crash you are getting when loading (rather than after loading while engines are spooling up) is due to this.

Please post the error report then. Version specific crashes usually occur after loading while the engine spools up, not when the sim starts loading.

Re: P3D Crashes when Loading F-4 E Model
JB,
You may have misunderstood me.
I uninstalled the P3D 3.4.18 client as per normal procedure. Then I installed the P3D 3.4.22 client.
I deleted the shaders and the P3D.cfg file,
However, prior to doing the above, I had previously installed the F-4E update under P3D 3.4.18.......which is when I found out it crashed P3D.
Do I need to re-install the F-4E update again, now that P3D v3.4.22 is installed?
Or, do you recommend something else?
Yesterday, I received the F-4J/S update.......I installed a few minutes ago with P3D v3.4.22, and it too crashed P3D immediately after the "splash" screen.
