Not able to change install directory
My FSX Steam installation is NOT in the location that the Milviz Phantom automatically (it seems) installs to. MY FSX Steam directory is in: B:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX. Is there anyway to change the address to where it is installs?
Thanks. Pete
Am running Win10.

Re: Not able to change install directory
Can you post a screenshot showing where it tries to install to?

Re: Not able to change install directory
Jonathan,
Where it installs to is B:\SteamLibrary, but where I WANT it installed is: B:\Program Files (x86)Steam\Steamapps\common\FSX
I do NOT see a drop down arrow in the installer to allow me to choose a different path. I have tried this numerous times, and cannot figure this out. Pete

Re: Not able to change install directory
Sounds like your FSX SE registry is messed up. Do you have both FSXA/Gold installed alongside steam or just steam?

Re: Not able to change install directory
Ok, I STILL have the problem, and no help from support.
If I copy the folders from the location that the installer is currently placing all the files, and put them in the location where MY FSX SE actually IS, will everything work correctly? Pete

Re: Not able to change install directory
Apologies. I lost track of it trying to solve the CTD others were experiencing with the F-4J/S.
You will need to go to edit your registry.
Go to start menu\Search and type in regedit and open it.
Go to the following path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator - Steam Edition\10.0.
You will see the AppPath key there. Change it to your actual FSX SE location: B:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSX\
Don't forget the additional \ at the end of FSX.

Re: Not able to change install directory
I got into the registry. There were two entries: the default one and another one which listed the directory where my FSX SE is. I edited the Default one to read where my FSX SE is as you directed, and deleted the other entry. So far so good, right?
I ran CC Cleaner to clean registries.
Ran the installer, and it STILL installed a Steam Library directory with the files, but NOT to the correct FSX SE location. Only thing I could do was copy all files to my FSX SE location.
I run the MVAMS program, and select Ready To Fly. But when the aircraft is up on the screen, the engines are NOT running, and no matter what I do, I cannot get them to run. If I select "Reset" on the FSX menu, then FSX freezes, and the only way to stop FSX is to do a Alt Cont Delete and shut it down that way.
Now what?

Re: Not able to change install directory
Ok lets try something different. Instead of using the FSX or FSX:SE Stand Alone install, try using the side-by-side option and see if that works out better.

Re: Not able to change install directory
Well, since I deleted the second registry entry, the "Side by Side" FSX SE does not appear as a option any more. Pete

Re: Not able to change install directory
Ok I didn't say anything about deleting registry entries. Where is the default one you speak of located? The other one (if my guess is correct it was the in the path I mentioned) is the very one the installer looks for and is vital. So next time please don't do something beyond what I ask. Try running this:

Ok, Jonathan,
Sorry for the delay. The Phantom installed to correct location, but still have problem of the aircraft not starting, despite choosing Ready To Fly with MVAMS.
Do not know if it matters, but my system is 64bit, and I noticed the MVAMS is 36 bit. Pete

What's your default flight?

It is a completely different aircraft. Does that matter? Pete

Re: Not able to change install directory
Yes, actually, the settings in that flight may have deleterious effects on startup.
Also, the MVMAS has no interaction directly with the sim so it's doesn't matter if it's 32 bit or not.
Jon will deal with this in the morning.
