Compressor Stall during taxi?

Post by Richard Portier » Sun Mar 10, 2019 5:52 pm

Hi,

Today the T38 ADV made me 2 times compressor stall on both engines. I can restart them but a moment later, again during taxi on ground there is a compressor stall on one or two engines. After taking off everything is normal (I respect the limitations of the aircraft (AB and so...). I would like to point out that due to the cold, the anti-ice is activated on the ground and in the air.

What is the reason for this?

Thanks and Regards,

Alvaro

Usually the compressor stalls on the ground are due to rapid throttles movement. Crosswind conditions worsen it by increasing the stall susceptibility.

Try smoother throttle inputs, specially when moving into the afterburner region at the takeoff run start.

Throttle wasn't moving... Just the bare essentials for a slow taxi. I know not to "push" the throttle with this aircraft.

You're talking about wind, if it's strong enough, it can cause this stall?
