No Nightlighting

Post by Scott-C » Fri Sep 04, 2020 8:52 pm

Does your system meet the sim's requirements? YES
Did you temporarily disable your anti-virus program during the download process? YES
Before installing did you disable UAC. (User Account Control)? YES
Did you install, and are you running the sim as an admin? YES
Before running the sim did you make sure the FSX/P3D directory is off limits to any AV scanning? YES
Does your system have the required distributables? YES
Is your video card DX11 compatible? YES
Are you using an aircraft other than a Milviz one as your default aircraft? YES
Have you installed in the root sim directory? YES
Do you have the appropriate SimConnect libraries installed? YES

Aircraft: T-50 Bobcat
Sim platform: FSX: Steam Edition
Operating system: Win10
Version: 4.171213
Unique ticket identifier: 80DC2247-5E27-86FA-3522-DCF1804B25F9

I had this aircraft installed in Win7-64 bit and FSX Gold. It worked great. That computer died so I installed on my HP ZBook i7 with nVidia K1100M Win 10-64 bit with FSX-SE. I have installed Plan G and FSXWX successfully (Simconnect). I have no issues with any other planes including A2A and Aerosoft. I have read the threads and followed the steps. The MVAMs and interior lighting do not work. No pilot/passengers, no lights. Other than that, the aircraft works great. There is a mention of the DX drivers, which I have installed, but can you tell me specifically which drivers and what locations? Thanks.

Have a look at this thread. Also you can try what JB said in the last post , maybe you are missing some DirectX files:

I have read the threads. It is that last post that I am asking about. Which DX drivers and where do they go. I installed the link that was in that last reply with no joy.

Can you verify that you have Visual studio 2010 and 2015 redistributables installed and that when you have the sim running that You should also check Windows Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and click the Processes Tab. Look to see that Milviz_Lighting_Service.exe is loaded.

I have Visual C++ 2010 x86/x64 and Visual C++ 2015-2019 x86/x64 installed (in addition to 2008, 2013). No the Milvis_Lighting_Service.exe is not loading. V1.1.3.0, 276 KB is in the nightlighting folder in the Bobcat folder but it does not run.

Thanks for the feedback Scott. I've asked one of the developers to take a look. In the mean time can you please double check that you have your FSX directory excluded from virus scans?

Yes, I do have it excluded as well as my scenery folders (all FSX related folders). I monitor the antimalware process and it remains near 0 when loading FSX.

Go to your FSX Steam location\SDK\Core Utilities Kit\SimConnect SDK\Legacy Interfaces\FSX-XPACK and run the SimConnect.msi there. Also verify that your fsx exe and Steam exe are set to run as admin by right clicking on the exe files, selecting properties->Compatibility->Run this program as administrator.

I completed those tasks. I think the simconnect.msi ran, but it was fast. The other settings were done. Steam reported that it was running in compatibility mode.
Here is the log from FSXWX:
17:25: Auto connect attempt
17:25: SIMCONNECT connection established
17:25: FSUIPC connection established
The Milvis_Lighting_service is not loading. But the pilots and passengers do not load either as I stated in my original post.

Download and run this program
https://www.dependencywalker.com/depends22_x86.zip

Go to your bobcat panel folder and drag and drop the Milviz_Lighting_Gauge.dll into it and collapse the lists in the section outlined by the red box in the above image and take a screenshot, and post here.

So the solution to this problem of missing passengers and night-lighting is Windows Compatibility. Turn it off in Windows 10 64 bit systems. That fixed everything. The solution was necessary for some Just Flight aircraft also.
