New User Questions [popup windows]

Enjoying the AC! Two questions have come up as I configure and do pattern work to "get a feel" for my new Beaver.

One: How do I undock and move the Garmin over to my second monitor? I find no click spots, no Shift 1,2,3 and no mention of the issue in both manuals.

Two: I'm fairly proficient with FSUIPC. The prop WILL NOT assign to my CH THQ. The throttle and Mixture work fine. I have tried most every combination and checked all my settings. It simply will not assign. It should. It calibrates. Any thoughts?

I am noticing some oddity in the flight dynamics. She bounces around like a feather in the breeze with no wind rather than a 5,000 pound fuselage being forced to move through thrust. Might need to "dicker" with more flight settings.

Liking what I'm seeing so far, but at 62 with poor eyesight PLEASE tell me I can undock the COMS/NAV and/or GPS over to my second monitor.

Since I had no involvement with this project, I can only answer your question regarding the lack of a popup window for the GPS. There isn't one...

Hello , Thank You for having purchased the DHC2 , I wasn't sure what panel setup you were using but if you add the following lines to the panel.cfg you can add a popup window with the MV set of GNS systems.

We are planning to do this in an update as there have been a few requests to enable the option , we had been getting away from having 2D cockpits but admittedly dialing in the data is easier for us old boys with glasses on the popup versions.

Whatever the next window number available is what you should number it , IE if the last existing is 3 [Window03] make the GNS Window04=GNS and [Window04] .

Ill check back to see how you made out , if you need assistance let me know what panel you are running and I can set it up for you .

PS Try assigning the throttle quadrant position lever to prop1

By the way, there is a mouse point on the screen of the GNS530 that should toggle the popup if the ident code in the window definition is set to 225 instead of GPS_Panel:

ident=225

In any event, Shift-2 will open/close the popup window.

It's a no go. Here is what mu P3Dv4 Beaver panel.cfg looks like after the edit.

After change Shift 2 brings up Bendix WX gauge.

Where on the GNS is the click spot?

The click spot should be on the screen, but I noticed that for some reason it's not working. Shift-2 however does work. Once opened, clicking on the popups GNS530 screen will close the popup.

Still a no go. Shift 2 brings up WX Radar window. This is what my panel.cfg looks like now. Of note, there are 4 Beaver folders in my P3Dv4 simobjects folder. I am opening the one named DCH-2 Beaver Milviz. I am then opening the folder named panel. I am then opening panel.cfg.

BTW, assigning prop to second throttle lever on CH THQ worked. Thank you!

Can you attach a zip with the aircraft.cfg and your panel.cfg from the panel folder listed in panel= from that aircraft.cfg please .

Let's make sure I'm following the correct procedure for placing the file you attached. I believe your making an assumption that I am more "versed" in panel placement, config files and general panel operations that what reality is.

I took the file you provided, I changed it's name to just "panel". I then went to my P3D Simobjects/Airplanes/DHC-2 Beaver Milviv folder. I renamed the existing panel.cfg file to panel_old_orig.cfg. I then placed the new file you provided into the panel folder in the location already referenced.

I rebooted, restarted P3D and under the MilViz publisher aircraft chose DHC2 Beaver N5347G. I open the aircraft. It immediately stalls. Every time I open it. I restart the engines using Ctrl-E.

The GPS unit is showing embedded into the firewall tucked in against the throttle/prop/mixture casing right where it was intended to be.

I perform a Shift-2.

What I get is what I have gotten since the beginning of this exercise, the Bendix WX panel.

Perhaps I am doing something not in the proper way or sequence here??

New higher end system, P3D4.1, 4K monitor, 27" 1920x1080 second monitor.

All other 2D AC panels pop up and move over just fine.
