beaver instrument lights inop
I have an issue where the instrument lights do not illuminate as they should and when cockpit light is turned on it fully brightens my nav radios and map light if it is to work does not. Any ideas? Windows 10 P3D V4.
I also notice a strange interruption of coughing and popping from the engine sounds with puffs of smoke that can't be normal. It is intermittent and every few seconds continuously. I have no other Beavers installed or any sound or guage mods at all.
thanks

Re: beaver instrument lights inop
In searching further I have checked for the latest Microsoft update 2015 which is in my milviz folder. In my night lighting folder I have the icon for milviz lighting service but when I click on it I get an error that MSUCP100.DLL was not found and reinstalling the program may fix it. I have reinstalled this aircraft twice last weekend and it did not catch it then so it looks like either this is ok or this is my problem and for whatever reason it is not reinstalling this bit. Not sure about the engine sounds yet but I am digging.

That sounds like you need the VS2010 redist in addition to the VS2015 redist.

where do I find this or check to see if I have it? Is a new machine so I'm guessing I have 2015 already. I'm not sure how these things work but wouldn't 2015 just add to what 2010 had? thanks.JonathanBleeker wrote:That sounds like you need the VS2010 redist in addition to the VS2015 redist.

If you open up your windows control panel and select 'programs and Features' you should be able to see it there if it is installed. A link to get it is here:http://milviz.com/MV-product-list.html

apps and features. So it looks like I have 2010, 2 2013 and 2 2015. Each duplicate is a different size so they must be updates or something so this does not appear to be it. grrr. I'm flying AKA without working radios or GPS too it looks like on this bird.

Hi,
I have the same problem after loading a saved flight. After doing several tests, I found again my instrument lights by following this procedure.
-Launch P3Dv4.1
-charging a Beaver saved flight
-Battery ON then instrument light ON and cab light ON before the engine is started.
Works every time for me...
If I start the engine before the instrument lights, I have the problem again.
Concerning "a strange interruption of coughing and popping from the engine sounds with puffs of smoke", if we talk about the same thing, for me it happens when the carburetor temperature is in the yellow range. As soon as I put in the carburetted heating and the needle is in the green range, the engine makes a normal sound, which I suppose must be the correct procedure. Sorry if we do not refer to the same engine "noise".
Regards,

Beaver and Otter both do not have guage lighting. I did the above before starting the engine and nothing. When I try to open the milviz light service folder I get an error. Code execution can not proceed MSVCP100.dll not found? I installed with admin control, no UAC no AV. I ran the XMLTools64installer, ran the vc_redist.x64 2015. Window 10. Anyone know wth is going on here?

I was missing the VS 2010x86, had the 64. I also had both 2013 and both 2015. No idea why I have both of the others but my lights are fixed so I am leaving both versions of each for now. I dug and dug to find answers to the error. To be clear, would have saved me a week ago in 5 minutes, One needs all versions of VS not just the latest 2015. Otter works now too. Happy!

Unfortunately the various versions of VS are not cumulative. They are all "stand-alone" versions. I'm happy to learn you got it figured out and working finally.
