gear problems beaver amphib

Post by gert57 » Mon Dec 11, 2017 6:47 pm

Dear Milviz support team,
My information below my question:

I am experiencing some problems flying the Beaver Amphib.
It is very difficult raising and lowering the landing gear.
I can seldom pump the red handle. I try a few times, and it soemtimes works and more often not.
I also cant get the command lines out of the pilot handbool to work.
The beaver uses some FSX commands:

Wheel / Ski Retract RETRACT_FLOAT_SWITCH_DEC
Wheel / Ski Extend RETRACT_FLOAT_SWITCH_INC

But both commands don't work, using FSUIPC, both mapping them to a key or to a joystick button. (I use the saitek model)
I hope you can help me raising and lowering the landing gear.... :)

Many thanks,

Sincerely yours,

Gert

Have a look there in my post from 24 November : viewtopic.php?f=137&t=8510

Glad to not be alone with this problem ... At this moment there is no confirmation if this bug will be fixed !

As I understand the situation, the handles do not respond instantly when click upon, but rather there is a deliberate delay. At least this was the explanation I read here some months ago.

Hi all,

It seems that I get the knack of manual activation.
It seems I have to move the pointer along the gear handle while pressing the left mouse button.
At least it retracted a few times that way.
I will report back if the FSX commands activated by key presses as mentioned in the manual work also.

Please, where is what you read some months ago about that ?

Deliberate delay ? Is there a "deliberate delay" in the real aircraft ?

Forgive me, may be I'm wrong but what I have in P3Dv4.1 is far too erratic to think of anything deliberate, sometimes it works (very, very rarely), sometimes after some random delays not quantifiable, sometimes not at all... It's more like some hidden gremlins somewhere in the program :) .

Hi all,

When you use the fsx keyboard command G the gear retracts and extends.
However, you have to press it for abt a second.
Same when using fsx commands coupled to a yoke switch via FSUIPC. same, press it for some time and the gear will work.

Yes, I know that (and flap also works with F6/F7) but there is a problem with the gear "red handle" like you described it (me also)...

The flap handle works like expected, the gear red handle does not...That's the point.

Please Beaver's developer, can you give some comments about this ?

There is a deliberate delay in order to represent the roughly 100 pumps that are required to lower these IRL , the trick such as it is , drag the handle once foreword to lower and back to raise .

Regarding the variables , Wheel / Ski Retract RETRACT_FLOAT_SWITCH_DEC Wheel / Ski Extend RETRACT_FLOAT_SWITCH_INC are used in the ski version to cause a lifting action , the gear up and down tag is valid in the floats version all by itself , I would recommend just using that in fsuipc .

Thank you Chuck for these clarifications ... but how to explain that the lever should be triggered almost without delay (the delay seems variable each time)? This gives the confused impression that sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Please if possible, perhaps it would be clearer that the lever would triggered right away and that it does these 100 pumps alone. Btw I did not find anything in the manual about it...

Best Regards,

Hi Chuck,

thnks for the info.
I'll try it in flight.
Might be a good idea to put it the way you said it in the manual. It makes things a lot clearer..
