DH 2 Beaver Unresponsive Starter switch and Prop Pitch in P3

Post by Flying_fish » Mon Nov 13, 2017 6:08 pm

Well, sorry to make a long post here, but the Beaver has got me beat! Have read forum carefully, and tried all sorts of advice, but nothing has seemed to work.

System OS:
Windows 10 home v1703 (holding back on 1709 due to reports of it breaking p3dV4)
Intel i7 7700K @ 4.2 16GB RAM 64-bit x64 processor
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070

Sim Platform:
P3D V4.1 (all modules updated)

Add ons:
RexTexDirect
ASNP3Dv4 ASCA
ChasePlane Track IR
FSUIPC5 (5121A)
Orbx scenery
UTlive beta
CH Yoke and pedals

Following Milviz's claer advice... I installed Beaver in P3D home directory with:
AV Off (avast free) with P3D folder excluded.
Win Defender Off, UAC set to 'never notify'.

Ran Simconnect.msi in P3D\redist\Interface\FSX-SP2-XPACK\retail\lib

Beaver not set as default, no other Milviz aircraft installed.

Appears to install correctly, no errors. All versions appear in vehicle list.
MVAMS installs and options chosen (C&D) reflected in version loaded.

XML tools installs correctly:
XMLTools64.dll successfully installed in Prepar3D v4 main folder !!
DLL.XML found !!
XMLTools64 entry found!!

...and XMLTools64 is present in root directory of P3D

dll.xml reads:
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>XMLTools3D</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>XMLTools3D.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

Beaver appears to load, no texture problems.
Have controllers disabled in sim, axis controlled through FSUIPC, and sent to FSUIPC for calibration.
Prop Pitch axis assigned to PropPitch1 in FSUIPC

Problem I get is:
From Cold and Dark...

Firstly, Prop Pitch...
Like rozbob's previous post I have Prop Pitch lever unresponsive using CH yoke - (despite axis assigned in FSUIPC to PropPitch or PropPitch1)
If FSUIPC.ini is edited to remove DCH-2 assignments, and controllers enabled in P3D and Pitch lever assigned to 'Engine 1 propeller axis', prop pitch lever still unresponsive using yoke, but can move it with mouse. Throttle and mixture work fine both ways. Tried several other pitch assignments, but none work.

Secondly, Starter switch....
Start sequence from C&D follows correctly up until: Starter switch does not seem to do anything (other than fuel pressure drops instantly to 0, and yellow warning light comes on), and and prop fails to turn over there is no sound associated with the starter switch. (saw another post in AVSIM forum re this, but no responses).
Have tried Ctrl-Shift-F4 to force mixture rich, no joy. Man Pressure at 30psi when C&D but drops to 0 when pressing starter switch.

Using MVAMS to start 'ready to fly' - Beaver loads with engine running, but pitch lever still unresponsive using yoke lever assigned, has no effect on Rev gauge or engine sound.

Thirdly, Man pressure gauge....
Unresponsive.

Also, flaps do not cycle correctly, (using FSUIPC incremental flap assignment) too many detents.

After loading Beaver, P3D sometimes crashes when exiting sim with:

Error Messages:
Faulting application name: Prepar3D.exe, version: 4.1.7.22841, time stamp: 0x59d67e95

Would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction - never had this much bother with an addon!
Thanks!

PS
I should have added that I have also checked that MS visual redistributes are installed:
2010 x64 and x 86
2005, and 2008 x86

That was about the best presentation of an error report as I have seen here , a few have had the same issue but to date our beta crew and the developers have not been able to crash P3Dv4.1 . Reports like presented here help greatly in pinpointing the problem , we are on it and will present a solution in the least possible delay .

Hi,

If P3D v4 and up, please unzip and replace XMLTools3D,dll with the attached copy

Goes in P3D main folder.

Thanks

Well guys, that did it!
Pitch lever responds with FSUIPC and also through sim; rev counter reads accordingly, start sequence correct, including oil warning lights, starter switch operates as it should.
Flaps still don't sequence as I'd expected, too many detents, so will have a fiddle with this and see if it is my FSUIPC set up, and report back.

Great job, Tomas and Chuck, we do realise how difficult it is to create a really accurate flight model like this - keep up the great work!

Thanks very much for the swift fix!

The Beaver has continuously adjustable flaps in real life, but the best the sim allows is the max number of detents.

hi guys,

I have the same problem with CH Throttle Prop Pitch1 lever, when I move it with FSUIPC as the sole source, the pitch changes but no corresponding move with the lever in the cockpit. Unfortunately, the file "XMLTools3D.zip" posted by Taguilo can't be opened (I used 7zip). In addition the tool "XMLTools64Installer" put the XMLTools64,dll into P3D root folder but did not create any entry in the dll.xml.

I use the "MilViz DHC-2 Beaver 170829" installer. Is it possible to get a new "XMLTools3D.zip" ?

Thanks

If you have XMLTools64,dll in P3D v4.x folder but don't have an entry in dll.xml, just add it manually:

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>XMLTools64</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>XMLTools64.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>

Use this one instead of XMLTools3D.dll

Tomas

PS: Your antivirus is removing the dll in XMLTools3D.zip; you must disable it before downloading, and enable again after extracting its content. Anyway, as stated, not needed if XMLTools64 is present.

I had XMLTools64.dll and added myself into the DLL.XML but that did not solve the problem. Let me try again with the XMLTools3D.zip you provided. I had no warning from my Antivirus software nor a log entry that it had done that, but will do.

Ok, the XMLTools3D.zip file I downloaded without antivirus has the same file size as from the post, but I still can't open it. I still have the same message that the zip file can't be opened.

I also was very surprise that the XMLTools64 installer reported that it found P3D v4 and had made the dll.xml change, where it had not. The installer has a defect if this is the case.

Try doing a search of DLL.XML files with P3Dv4 reference that might be present in your system, and check them all.
Perhaps it is added in one, and that could be related to a specific user.

Well, there are three dll.xml on my system, one in each folder belonging to P3Dv3, P3Dv4 and FSX. I ran the XMLTools64 installer many times and unless I manually add the entry in the one for P3Dv4, the installer does not do it.

However, I had added the entry manually:

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>XMLTools64</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Path>.\XMLTools64.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>

But it still does not solve my problem, moving the prop lever on my CH Throttle does not move the lever in the Beaver, only the Mixture1, and Throttle1 movement produce the corresponding movement in the Beaver. I also reported this already.

Also, I disabled my Antivirus and the "XMLTools3D.zip" that you provided above still does not open on my PC. I tried three different PCs, each with the same result. So When can I get the XMLTools3D.zip that had fixed issues for others that have had the same problem as I in this thread?

Sorry for being frustrated here, but the responses so far is circular.
