Error 0x3 cant find snd1.wav
Hi there,
I just reinstalled windows and also my p3d install.
I have the same file structure as before and installed the same Milviz Dhc-2 version.
However when i select the milviz beaver and start the flight i get a few errors saying Full error code 0x3
Location 5 cant find SND1.Wav. The aircraft loads fine after closing a bunch of these messages.
I saw the other topics, saying you can alter the path in the panel.cfg but mine seems correct. Another solution was to make sure the default installer location was used, in my case it is.
Dont really know what to do next, any solution?
Just to note since reinstalling and updating to the latest Windows 10 build, i have some problems with another addon as well. (rest is working fine) so i was thinking it could be a permission thing or something. That being said my p3d folder is set to full access for users and i ran the installer as well as P3D in admin mode.
I added a screenshot of the error
Thanks,
Mike

Look very closely at the path in that error message. I seriously doubt that there should be an exclamation point in the path:Kaydet wrote:I saw the other topics, saying you can alter the path in the panel.cfg but mine seems correct. Okay, it was just something that appeared "out of the ordinary" so wanted to confirm.
Can you post the entry from your panel.cfg file showing the sound module's complete entry?

Also i get 55warning boxes, when i clear them all the sim loads, and sounds seem to work.
Isnt it strange that the paths are different here in Gauge07 and the warning box? Also the folder this Gauge07 exists with the sounds in there

Yes, that is strange. I think Jon will have to provide any further help as he knows more about the new sound module than I do.

what about the double backslashes - is that normal?

I have no idea, I can try to delete them,
Also I was thinking to just create the folder the sim is asking for, and copy the sound files in there.

Re: Error 0x3 cant find snd1.wav
That is normal. The entry needed is set by us based on how we've configured the sound file folder. Also, the installer reads the user's Registry to determine the precise path needed to install the aircraft's files.doodlebug wrote:what about the double backslashes - is that normal?
If the user has renamed the sim folder's path such that it's different from the Registry path, then the sound module will have difficulty finding the sounds folder. In that event, the sound module will revert to looking in whatever path the sound module is located, and of course won't find them and report the error(s).

Re: Error 0x3 cant find snd1.wav
Did you rename the Prepar3D folder after installing Prepar3D? If so, that is why you are having problems. The Registry path won't match the actual path...Kaydet wrote:I have no idea, I can try to delete them,

If that is the case, then your suggestion to "just create the folder the sim is asking for, and copy the sound files in there" would probably work.

Re: Error 0x3 cant find snd1.wav
Hi Bill,
I have never renamed the folder path or anything like that, the installer found my P3D folder automaticly as well.
It must be something weird in my system, i guess ill live with the errors for now and hopefully a fresh win install somewhere next year will fix this.
Thanks for your help though!

Re: Error 0x3 cant find snd1.wav
Do you have the SNDnn.wav files in the specified folder?
If so, then try creating the folder the error message is pointing to ..\panel\MVSounds and then move the SNDnn.wav files there.

Yes i do have the files,
Anyway quick update; no progress so far. I think its a permission thing or a corrupt registery somewhere. I have some time and will do a complete windows reinstall today. Ill let you know after the reinstall. Im sure its gonna be fine then on a clean windows and P3D.
Tnx so far
