35 views and no-one asks what the differences are? Maybe if Oisin told you what it did you'd be all over it like a rash.

After a few take offs and landings it was obvious to me that the tail wheel comes up much, much sooner. A great improvement.

Need to try this one out, I would love the Beaver's tail to lift quicker on the takeoff roll...

At last! Someone has put his above the parapet. Three of us this evening were flying the Beaver with these files and ALL said what an improvement. Why Milviz wont come out and say what they have done is beyond me. Pride?

Please don't mistake lack of organisation with pride. It is on my todo list.

:D I'd rather admit to pride... Is this FDE going to be incorporated in an update or should I/we keep it under lock and key for safety?

Subtle tweaks: Propwash is more pronounced and the tail should lift more easily. Rudder and trim has been finessed, as has centre of drag.

I realise this dynamic is for the wheeled version, but will it migrate to the float versions as well to improve things there?

Yes, if people like it, it will be modified for the float versions

Gentleman,

This is PERFECT. Exactly what I've been hoping for. It replicates the handling qualities of a Beaver when compared to all the takeoff and landing videos available online, and more importantly.. it FEELS correct. It feels how a taildragger of this size and weight should handle.

One bug I found, and it's visual: I don't appear to have a visible tailwheel when seen from an outside view. I have no idea if that is related to the replacement of the .cfg and .air files, or something weird on my computer. I imagine if it's on MV's end, it's probably an easy fix, but frankly I'd take the tradeoff all day either way ;-).

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for your new FDE. It's great !

Just for your next updates :

Code: Select all

- [EFFECTS]
startup=fx_None
fx_None does not exist, but fx_dummy should be what you are looking for...

And if you envisage to look at the model, you could fix that annoying syntax warning...

Code: Select all

Type: Animation Script
Name: DHC2 Beaver AEROTAXI HK-182
Error: Empty parentheses or closing parenthese missing: "(A:AVIONICS MASTER SWITCH,bool)! or
          (A:NAV GS FLAG:1, bool) ! or
          if{ 10 }
          els{ 0 }
        "
Missing space between ) and !

I know, I should just turn off ContentErrors and ignore the message. But, this has helped to fix a lot of errors...

Regards.

Gérard
