Milvis F-4 J/S Crashes FSX SE after pushing Fly Now Button

Post by denoble » Mon Jun 10, 2019 5:06 am

I was using the Milvis F-4 J/S almost daily until last week when I had to reinstall Windows 10 and FSX SE. I'm now reinstalling my addons since all of my apps and files were deleted. That's been going pretty smoothly until trying to reload the Milviz F-4 again. Yesterday, my Milviz F-4 download failed. There was no downloader in the file that was sent. My anti virus was off. Today I downloaded again and received the download, downloaded the airplane and then downloaded the ADV. FSX loaded fine, the F-4 J/S were in the aircraft menu section of "Free Flight" as they should be. I selected "Fly Now ", it briefly went to the transition screen then crashed FSX. I tried several times to restart and the same results. I uninstalled the ADV module and tried that but the same result. My other addon airplanes are working normally.
I'd been using the Milvis F-4 J/s on the same computer with no system changes other than reloading Windows 10 and FSX SE. The only Issue I been having prior to that was after adding the ADV module the airplane would not take off on a runway. It would stay on the ground no matter the airspeed and not take off until running off the end, even on an 11,000 foot runway. Catapult shots were not a problem (went off the end of the runway sooner). That may have been an Issue with EZCA (EZDOK) from some internet posts I found.
I'd been using EZCA v3.0 and v2.0 before that prior to the recent Windows 10 reinstall and I'm still using it.
Thank you,

Your FSX SE and steam app set to run as admin? You need to right click on them, select properties->compatibility and check the Run this program as administrator box.

No, that didn’t work if I did it correctly. I was able to clearly set Steam to admin mode by right clicking the Steam shortcut, properties, compatibility, run program as admin. The FSX SE shortcut has properties but no compatibility or run program as admin selections anywhere. Still the F-4 doesn’t load when I select “Fly Now”. I didn’t have this problem when I installed this just a few months ago. I’m getting pretty frustrated with this.

Uninstall all your phantoms, and then install the base package, followed by the ADV, without opening the simulator in between installs.

I followed your instructions to uninstall and reinstall the F-4. I made sure that the anti virus and user account control were disabled. Still FSX SE shuts down while trying to load the airplane after pressing "Fly Now". I tried starting with a different airplane and switching to the F-4. Other airplanes will launch into FSX but when I try to change to the F-4 FSX SE closes down. I accidentally burned through 4 or 5 downloads by double clicking a couple of times when I didn't see the initial download. I cancelled the extra attempts before they were completed. I only downloaded the airplane and ADV once.
I hope we can get this to work, I really enjoy flying the F-4. Thank you,

Please go to start menu search->Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application immediately after a crash and see if there is an error report. Post it here if there is.

I hope the information above is what you were looking for. The two line message on the second post above was actually from the box above the long description on the application page of Windows Logs. Thank you for all of your help!

Ok that looks like an admin problem still. I just remembered that in order to make fsx se run as admin, in addition to setting it for steam, instead of using the shortcut you have to go to your fsx se main sim folder, locate the fsxse.exe, and set the run as admin flag on it.

Still no Luck. I changed fsxse.exe to run as administrator. It still shuts down.

I disabled the user account control before the last download attempt a few days ago. I’ll check again. Thanks,

I verified the UAC was still disabled. Still same problem. I have many addon payware and freeware aircraft. I have the VRS FA-18E Superbug, Razbam A-7 Tacpack, Dino Cattaneo’s F-35, F14D, T-45, S3B and others. They all work fine after recently reinstalling.
Out of desperation I put the 2 Milviz F-4 Simobjects files into a temporary folder I created then uninstalled the F-4 JS and ADV. I put the 2 airplane files back into the my FSX Simobjects and opened FSX. This time when I pressed “Fly Now” the airplane loaded but was unusable. I then deleted the temporary F-4 Simobjects files, rebooted and reinstalled the F-4 JS and ADV making sure all anti virus was disabled. I rebooted and tried to launch the F-4 from free flight, fly now and it shut down FSX like it has been since my recent Windows 10/FSX SE reinstall.
I don’t know if this information is of any value but I really want to get this working. I spent a lot of money purchasing it and I like to fly it. Thank you!
