Gauges disappearing

I'm stumped. all of a sudden and without clear cause, the gauges in my Otter disappear, leaving only black backgrounds.

I have already uninstalled and reinstalled but can not solve it. It will start up fine, just in a flight and switching views triggers it at some point.
Never had this issue ever since I got the Otter, which was upon release.

Help?!

i can trigger:
aircraft needs to be active, gauges activated, switching around from external to internal. usually within 4 switches gauges issue is triggered.
if aircraft is inactive and on the ground I can not trigger the issue.

i can remedy: i can repair and get the gauges back by switching textures to high-2048 from my usual ultra-4096.
switching back to ultra-4096 also gives me normal gauges again. Switching around again i can trigger it again. I can not trigger when textures are high-2048.

Weird, as my rig is plenty capable of running p3d quite high (high I7, 32GB mem, nvidia 1080) and I never had issues on ultra textures.

Help?!
