Graphical Issues Nav options placement

Post by Thorsten42 » Tue Jul 10, 2018 2:08 pm

Hi all,

while testing the really wonderful Totter - especially the engine management - I found several graphical issues regarding the placement of the nav instrument options. I have tested default, navstax, F1 GTN and RXP GNS. In all layouts are issues with sticking through objects and/or hovering instruments. Would be nice if someone could confirm the findings. In addition when on the outer right side adf or other panel is aligned top it overlaps the edge and looks like hitting the dashbard. Most of the issues should be easily fixed by moving the corresponding panel/console parts x/y/z wise. Visually I would think stuff on the right side would be a lot nicer if aligned to bottom and not top, but thats personal taste for sure.

Attached you will find some red marked findings.

Thanks and Cheers
Thorsten

I think you'll find that a slight misalignment of the nav gauges and GPS units perfectly acceptable once you see how Milviz accomplished supporting so many different 3rd party GPS and NAV addons. They didn't create multiple VC model files for different GPS & NAV equipment configurations like other developers did/do, they actually created their own 3D panel models inside the VC to project these GPS units onto... How the heck they did it I have no idea, but I imagine it's more than likely in-house .DLL coding that initializes these various model configs, maybe... It's pretty awesome when you look at it.

Just my 2 cents worth bro.
Take care
-Andrew

Perfectly fine Andrew and I'm with you. I really appreciate Milviz hard work and totally agree to Colins 3rd party statement about the issue itself. But as always there is a small "but" ;) Milviz is delivering top notch packages on an impressive value for price level, beating most of the other comparable companies by far. But with rising the bar so high on quality the wish of perfection is coming through.

I've tested a little bit more and rechecking the C310 redux and the Otter. Hmmm... the issue was always allready there even with the other two products but the angle of view and arrangement in the other two is different and you will not notice the issue as direct as in the Totter. In the Cessna you sit more in front of the nav panels and the gaps/variations are hard to notice. In the Otter the nav panels are arranged different, more using the lower space. What I actually prefer as it looks a lot more well placed especially with the background graphics.

For sure I would not call it a bug but a thing that perhaps could be optimised a bit. I would love to see the same arrangements as in the Otter but another personal taste for sure ;)

Now back in the cockpit of the Totter and following the river nile on our ongoing VA BEaver/Otter/Totter Tour...

Cheers and thx
Thorsten

This is how I line up the avionics stack in Max using the "look left" viewpoint I carefully align the front of the units to be vertically aligned:

...revisited after the latest SP installer. Don't want to be a pita but is there anything we can do about it? I really really really like this plane but the cockpit layout makes this floating units very eye catching. I see your input on the proper placement but in reality it looks like whatever technic you are using is not doing what you want in the first place. See another screen attached to better see the gap.

Hope it can be fixed ;)

Cheers and thx
Thorsten

PS: If you need some beta tester that can be a real pita and usually finds these issues before golive feel free to contact me next time ;)

I can see in one of your images a piece of geometry that is not in the service pack or shouldn't be. I cant see it in any of the variants passenger or cargo , can you indicate what aircraft variant you are using and tell me if that is the service pack version installed please Thorsten.

Thank You
Best CJ

Hey CJ,

only the last image posted was from the latest SP installer. The initial Postings were with release installer. I did not check in deep all variations I have with the SP yet. I have F1 GTN, RXP GNS and Navstax for testing. I can check the other setups again...

Cheers T.
