LVars List for Bravo Quadrant Programming

Post by prestonnick » Mon May 10, 2021 1:06 pm

Hello everyone!

I'm hoping one of the dev's might be able to chime in on this one, or maybe, someone with a bit more expertise than myself.

I am enjoying the Avanti 180 Evo immensely and would like to further the experience by being able to control most of the common Autopilot functions with the Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant.

Out of box, very few of the autopilot functions work between the quadrant and the Avanti, namely the HDG, CRS, and autopilot master. With some tinkering in SPADNext I have managed to make a few others work (sort of). With SPADNext I can see a complete list of the LVars in use by the Avanti and some of them have been handy in figuring out which functions to map.

Like the B350i, it seems there are a lot of functions of the autopilot that do not have a specific description and look more like "L:0x110CC"

I know over on the MV B350i, the Milviz developers were kind enough to provide a complete list of all the cockpit functions and the LVars that control them for home cockpit builders.

Would the Avanti dev's be willing to provide a similar list for those of us who would like to set up custom control inputs or home cockpit integration?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

There is a list included with the P180 in the aircraft folder:

Avanti_XML_Control_Variables.pdf

There are some typos at the end but it should cover most of what you need.

I have had a look at the list and it does have almost all of the switches covered but it does not cover the LVars to control the autopilot functions. The LVars pdf included is pretty much blank after page 5 like others have reported.

OK Folks.

So after a lot of trial and error, some detective work, and some testing I now have the Honeycomb Bravo Quadrant's autopilot fully working with the Avanti. I managed to find these values in the LINDA configuration for the MV KA350i and applied them directly in the Honeycomb Configurator with great success!

For those of you who wish to try this, these are the settings I am using in the Honeycomb Configurator. These values can work in other control software as they are accessing the LVars from the aircraft.

As a bonus these exact values will work on the Milviz KA 350i autopilot as the event values are the same between these aircraft.

For the Increase knob
Condition 1: ALT (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69836)
Condition 2: VS (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69841)
Condition 3: HDG (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69834)
Condition 4: CRS (use default Honeycomb Setting)
Condition 5: IAS (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69838) This controls FLC Speed

For the Decrease knob
Condition 1: ALT (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69837)
Condition 2: VS (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69840)
Condition 3: HDG (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69835)
Condition 4: CRS (use default Honeycomb Setting)
Condition 5: IAS (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69839) This controls FLC speed.

For the Honeycomb Autopilot Mode Buttons
Remove the default entries and use the following:

HDG Button:
Variable 1: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69825)
Variable 2: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: XMLSND2, Value 1)

NAV button:
Variable 1: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69831)
Variable 2: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: XMLSND2, Value 1)

APR Button:
Variable 1: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69832)
Variable 2: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: XMLSND2, Value 1)

REV Button:
I am not using this button so the default command is present.

ALT Button:
Variable 1: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69830)
Variable 2: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: XMLSND2, Value 1)

VS Button:
Variable 1: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69833)
Variable 2: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: XMLSND2, Value 1)

IAS Button:
Variable 1: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: AP_EVENT, Value: 69828)
Variable 2: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: XMLSND2, Value 1)

AUTOPILOT MASTER:
Use the default Honeycomb setting for this button.

The entry for Variable 2 on the buttons will produce an audible click within the simulator for the button press.

If you wish to add the TOGA button to Power Lever 1

In the Honeycomb Configurator select: "Lever 1 & 2 Go Around" from the button drop down menu.

Add a variable:

Variable 1: (Variable: CUSTOM VAR, Key: L, Name: Avanti_TOGA, Value: 1)

Any additional buttons and Indicator lights can be set up to your liking.

I hope this will help out those of you who were looking to add these functions and further enjoy this aircraft.
