Setting the ILS Course with FMS mode active [Answered]
I am trying to fly some ILS procedures but maybe I am missing something.
I am not able to change the CRS heading value when the FMS is active (trying to turn the CRS button does nothing) so when I change the nav source as I approach the ILS the heading is way off (normally 0). Is there a way of setting the CRS heading without going to the HDG mode first, setting the ILS course and then changing to nav mode to VOR/ILS.
When I tune to the ILS frequency it seems like the ILS is pre-selected to the correct course but when I change the Nav mode the correct course is not selected.
Thanks.

Re: Setting the ILS Course with FMS mode active
Hi,
Changing CRS course is inhibited when FMS is the active nav source. The common procedure to fly an ILS within a FP active is called NAV-to-NAV, where the ILS course is automatically set before FMS nav source auto switches to LOC. When you manually switch from FMS to LOC or APPR LOC, if LOC signal is not captuted, FGS reverts to ROLL, CRS needle will point to the last course set, but now can be positioned to the published (no need to switch to HDG).
