No Instrument Lights P3D v5 (Resolved - RealLight)

Post by sthenion » Sat Aug 01, 2020 5:42 pm

I dont have any instrument or console lights. The compass light works though. Exterior lights are working. Aside from that this plane is better than ever in P3D v5! Now...get that dang F15C released! )

I havent been on the support forum in a looong time so now I see that this may be related to RealLight? I first installed v4.5 then updated to v5 through MVAMS. I got the reported initialization errors, but I ignored them and everything seemed fine until I tried instrument, console, and flood lighting and found that it didnt work. I then uninstalled the aircraft and downloaded and installed just the installer for P3D v5 but still got the initialization errors and no instrument, console or flood lighting? All of the RelLight textures are named similar to this... $VC1_R or $VC1
Any ideas?

The installer tries to run RealLight (which is also the key to getting the latest version) at the end of the install cycle. Did you let it run?

Confirm there is a RealLight.dll in your P3Dv5 gauges folder?

Yes there is a RealLight.dll in gauges folder. File version 1.2.0.2
I remember having an interior lighting issue back with the old T38A version in P3D v4. The interior lights worked on the Advanced version but not the original version. Not sure if there is any correlation with what is happening now, but if I remember correctly there was a file issue, perhaps a gauge file that fixed it?

All I can suggest is a reinstall and be sure to run the RealLight installer that the installer itself starts (ie don't go to the exe in the aircraft folder and run it manually). It works fine here.

I just did another uninstall/reinstall finishing up with the RealLight installation when the RealLight window opens, but still no cockpit lighting. Could there be a conflict with the QW 787 which also uses RealLight? I dont have any issues with cockpit lighting in the 787. I love the T-38 in v5. Would really like to find a fix for the lighting

Weird...If it works in the QW in v5 it should work in the T-38. Please go to the SimObjects\Airplanes\MV_T38_A\RealLight folder and show me whats in it and the texture folders in it.

I have been running with HDR lighting off so I turned it on to see if that might be it, but no luck. I rarely fly at night anyway, but it would be nice to have the lights for dawn and dusk and it's just a cool looking feature to have. Maybe it will sort out eventually. Thanks for looking into it.

Can you please try this real light installer?
RL.zip
(14.49 MiB) Downloaded 47 times
You will need to extract it to your T-38A folder (\Prepar3D v5\SimObjects\Airplanes\MV_T38_A) and then open an administrative command prompt and navigate to the location and run the reallightinstaller.exe with the /beta

so

Press Windows+R to open the “Run” box. Type “cmd” into the box and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to run the command as an administrator

CD to (<yourP3Dv5Location>\Prepar3D v5\SimObjects\Airplanes\MV_T38_A) folder and type in: RealLightInstaller.exe /beta

if you try to just run the installer with no beta flag it will not work.

Can you let me know if this does work for you?
