Alternative is to copy your aircraft cfg to another location, make the changes, save, and then copy back. UAC should then permit you to replace it.

I'M A TOTAL MEAT HEAD!! 
I was trying to change repaint config. I later realized that all I need to do was make change in repaint, copy/paste into T-38 AC cfg and "Whammo"!
Nice Marine T-38 Aggressor in FSX. Thinking about contacting Bill Gates and asking if he would like a file guru on his staff, YA THINK?
