<sigh> I need to find an issue with the Flight Director not working properly, so I'll take another look at the fuel flow issue. It make take a few days to set aside some time.

Any progress on this?

I'm wondering if this is not just a gauge indication issue as I always struggle to keep speed under control and have to throttle way further back than I'd expect to maintain reasonable airspeed. Maybe too much fuel is being supplied for a specific throttle position and so the gauge is actually correct and the error is elsewhere? Or maybe its just user error :D
